From The Dark

From The Dark (2014) -- Mark and Sarah are travelling into the Irish countryside on holiday. When Mark’s overconfident navigation turns them down a muddy road, they become stranded. Inside the closest house, Mark finds a disoriented farmer alone in the darkness and promises to get help. After the farmer attacks Mark and jumps out the window of his own home, the two realise that the countryside isn’t exactly their cup of tea. However, this is just the beginning of their ordeal. As night approaches, they’re stuck in the unfamiliar house with an inexplicable lighting problem, and outside is a creature that revels in the dark.

Cake (2014)

Cake (2014) - Drama - The movie begins with a group of women in a chronic pain support group who want closure after the suicide of one of their members, Nina. Various ladies say how upset they are that Nina didn’t reach out for help and that she left her son motherless. Annette, the group leader, then asks Claire for her feelings. Disgusted with Nina, Claire responds with an insensitive detailing of the suicide that leaves the group repulsed.

Claire is driven home in a taxi. She has been lying down in the backseat, unable to sit upright due to her pain. When she arrives home she listens to voicemails – one is from Annette who asks her to find another support group, one that can help her with her anger issues. The second is from her husband from whom she has recently separated. He wants to come by and pick up the rest of his things but only when she isn’t there. Home alone, Claire gathers prescription bottles from a hiding spot in her house. She is almost out of pills. She tosses and turns at night in severe pain. Claire goes into her backyard and soaks in her pool to soothe herself. Later,she falls asleep in a deck chair. She is awakened the next morning by Silvana, her house-maid.

Everly

Everly (2014) - Action - Everly (Salma Hayek), a prostitute working for the brutal criminal overlord Taiko (Hiroyuki Watanabe), is being attacked in her apartment by Taiko's enforcers after he discovers that she has been working with the police to bring down his organization. However, though Taiko expected his men to kill her easily after torturing her, Everly retrieves a gun she had hidden and manages to kill all of her attackers. Taiko then begins a sadistic game of toying with Everly, dispatching numerous hired killers and offering the other prostitutes in the building (which he presumably owns) a bounty if they manage to kill her. Meanwhile, Everly attempts to contact her mother Edith (Laura Cepeda) and young daughter Maisey (Aisha Ayamah) to save them from other henchmen of Taiko and get them out of the situation alive.
